What is Bloomsday? 2008 marked the 104th anniversary of the day that James Joyce's epic novel, Ulysses, took place. The novel is set in and around Dublin, Ireland and follows the adventures of several characters, including Leopold Bloom, Molly Bloom, and Stephen Dedalus through a single remarkable day, June 16, 1904. Fans of the novel celebrate Bloomsday each year by reading from the novel, re-enacting scenes, listening to traditional Irish music, or hoisting their favorite Irish drink to celebrate their favorite literary work.
